We apologise for any confusion this might cause to our customers. However, the reason shipping is set as free, is due to the limitations of Etsy’s website. We have been advised by Etsy to arrange shipping on their site in this way due the following reasons.
As we specialise in bespoke, one-off pieces, at Modern Antics, not one of our item’s shares the same dimensions as another. This makes it impossible for us to standardise our shipping rates, but is also another reason why every of our items is so special.
Additionally, as a small business, the length of time it would take us to calculate the cost of shipping every item, to every country, let alone every city in the world, would mean we wouldn’t have any time to provide our customers with the items we work so hard to make available to you.
Large items, such as tables or sideboards, that cannot be sent using a standard shipping service, require a bespoke crate, which is essential to keep them safe and to be fully insured by our freight couriers. For more information on these crates, please get in touch.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us, with any questions or queries you might have. We love to chat to any potential customers or anyone looking for some advice, on interior design, furniture or anything in between.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth
